Today I received a phone call from Rogers the company that I have cell phone, internet and cable tv through. Here is a letter I sent them via their web site following this phone call.
I just received a call from your customer service checking up on how I feel about Rogers. When i asked if I am getting billed for minutes used on my cell phone because you called me, she said that I am. How can you bill me for cell phone usage when you called me. That’s essentially cheating your customers as you can generate revenue by calling customers and charging them for air time used during the call you initiated.
Second when i asked her about why I wasn’t able to see my internet or cable tv bill online she was unable to assist me in any way as her computer was unable to connect to my account. Remember, you called me and I would think that my account would already be on screen before talking to me. Is this another way to generate income by increasing the length of the phone call?
Finally the agent said she would forward me to another department and then the call was disconnected.
Very helpful, NOT.
Why have I not received a bill for my internet or cable tv? Also why is it not in my account when I log in to Rogers?
The agent that I spoke with was polite the entire time, but clueless.
Today we go to Customs and Immigration to sign for the stuff we shipped from Korea. We’ll also be arranging a shipping day. We’ll be able to get our stuff sometime this week or next week at the latest. I’m hoping for tomorrow or Thursday but realistically it’ll be next week on Tuesday or later (Monday is a holiday).
Yesterday I started a php course and will be taking this course for the next couple of weeks. Am enjoying being back in the classroom even if it is on the other side of the desk. Hopefully this course will help me to be a better developer and also give me some contacts/networking opportunities here in Toronto.
I’ve been living in our new home for about two weeks now and the wife and kids have been here for eight days. Finally things are starting to settle down. We’re almost fully furnished now but do have a few more odds and ends to take care of.
The kids are really enjoying their summer camp that we’ve got them enrolled in. My 9 year old daughter has already made a good friend and my 5 year old son is very attached to one of the teachers at the camp. Overall 100% success with the kids.
The wife is quite happy with things so far. There are a couple of things she doesn’t like, but that’s to be expected. I can certainly remember several things I didn’t like when I first moved to Korea and even up until I left there were other things that bothered me about living in Korea. In any case there is no perfect country.

This morning I was doing the dishes and last minute cleaning in preparation to pick up my wife and kids at the airport, after a long and busy three weeks, when I noticed a squad of police marching by in full body armor with shields and assault rifles. I immediately started thinking “What the Fuck is going on in my neighborhood” put down the dishes and started looking for my camera.
At the beginning I just stayed in the house and shot pictures through the window as I didn’t want the police causing me any trouble due to the photography. It’s not illegal to take pictures of police, but they don’t like it. Fortunately I have a pretty good telephoto lens with a reach of 300mm.
Once I noticed my neighbors rubber necking outside, I stepped out and took a few more shots, but by then everything was over. Did see a news camera from CITY News there and have checked their site but can’t find any info on the raid.
When I moved into this house and told the few people I know in Toronto they all told me this was a great neighborhood and that the school my kids would be going to is very good. Absolutely did not expect this to happen.
