I did decide to do a photo a day challenge during 2011. Below is my first picture titled Beginnings

Beginnings
Some photos may or may not have titles and I intend to post every single day unless I’m unavoidably away from the internet, which may happen if we go on weekend trips or Vietnam for a week later this month (unconfirmed as of yet). In the case that I can’t post on that day, photos will be posted as soon as possible but dated correctly and also only photo’s shot on the correct day will be posted. Hope readers enjoy these posts.
It’s just before 8am Christmas morning and I thought I’d wish my readers a merry Christmas.
To celebrate here is a picture of a slice of Christmas cake we had last night.
I’m considering doing a Photo of the Day challenge in 2011 and posting my pics here. This would definitely increase my posting frequency but also give me a chance to show off and improve my photography. I also think this will be interesting because the first six months of 2011 I will be living in Seoul and the second six months in Ottawa so it will really be a 50/50 snapshot of life in two different countries.
Haven’t yet decided, but am strongly leaning towards doing this.
Today there was a live fire drill near the border with North Korea that’s been making headlines on all the major news sites probably because North Korea threatened to retaliate. It appears that nothing came of this.
In any case this is the first time since the end of the Korean war that South Korea has done something more than bow down before North Korean demands. While it may be risky to do this in reaction to the bombing of Yeonpyeong Island last month I personally applaud this move. By continually letting North Korea do what it wants with no risk of consequences the South is enabling a bully to control the show.
The feeling in Seoul is basically unchanged no one is panicking about it that I can see, either expats or Koreans. Most people don’t seem overly concerned and in fact the Canadian government isn’t even concerned about the situation as one can see in this bulletin from the embassy
it is understandable that Canadian citizens would be concerned regarding the security situation on the Korean Peninsula. However, the Embassy reminds Canadian citizens in the Republic of Korea that military training exercises are routinely conducted throughout South Korea throughout the year, to include civil defense drills normally held eight (8) times a year. Canadian citizens should stay informed through local media about upcoming military exercises and civil defense drills that sometimes occur at short notice and for which the Embassy will not routinely provide advance notification. The Embassy continues to closely monitor the current situation. Should the security situation change, the Embassy will update this warden message.
yeah that’s it.
I’m not doing anything different and have been living my life exactly as I was before. To lighten the mood here’s a few pictures I’ve taken recently. Hope you enjoy them. One here and the rest in the extended entry.
